My Story

On the 28th April 2016 I woke up and couldn’t move - my legs were paralysed. A rare immune system disorder on my spine had effectively crushed my spinal cord. Following 4 full months in hospital, with a prognosis of 5% chance of walking again I left hospital on crutches to continue my rehabilitation in my quest to walk unaided again.

This was the first real ‘barrier’ that I had ever been presented with. It stopped me from playing all sport, something that had been my passion from an early age. In my work at the time, as Director of Sport at Glyn School, it was apparent that there were a number of barriers that stopped students from accessing opportunities and experiences - the major one being financial constraints.

As a result of this I have worked with GLF Schools to create a new initiative, the GLF Schools’ Foundation which I am lucky enough to lead on. The Foundation will provide funding to support all students in having exposure to life experiences, to ensure essential skills are developed in order for them to fulfil their potential. Within our schools, we have approximately 3,000 students - 19% of our total students - who are recognised as disadvantaged.

By giving to GLF Schools’ Foundation you are helping us to:

- Subsidise students from low socio-economic backgrounds to enable them to access additional opportunities and experiences outside of school.

- Identify talented students and mentor those students using our Ambassadors.

- Deliver face to face inspirational sessions to students.

The first official fundraising event will be a golf marathon, where I, alongside Harry Pyett (PGA Professional), Adam Boyd-Brown (Golf Strength Coach). I will complete upmost of 50,000 steps, having been told I would not make 1, and be walking for approximately 14 hours to raise money for families who need it.

Please show your support so we can support those students within GLF Schools to have the access to opportunities and experiences which everyone deserves to have.

Thanks in advance,
